allindaphoto > This woman and her daughter, dressed for the festival, were in just the right light, with a perfect background. Notice how the light wraps around from back to front, and rims the faces against the dark background.
allindaphoto > This colorful image shows a woman carrying red clay pots away from the Socrates Garden Market, market, which is behind the photographer. Signs on the cross street, Av. Independencia, point to the "Zócala" and the "Catedral", both a few blocks east of the Socrates Garden Market. Scenes such as this are typical sights in Oaxaca.
allindaphoto > Oaxaca Pizza restaurant. This is the front of the "Pizza Rustica Ristorante" in Oaxaca city. The pattern formed by the red background, carved wood sign and lamp makes an attractive presentation.
allindaphoto > During the "Virgin de Guadalupe" festival, parents dress their children in elegant native costumes and bring them to the Church of the Guadalupe at Llano Park to be blessed by the priest. This beautiful young girl, who was there with her family, was really eye-catching. Notice also the very bright colors of her outfit, her long, curled eyelashes, and her expression.
allindaphoto > At the Zócala, in order to capture images of interesting people we set up at places where the light would be behind us, but the background would be interesting but not too light to avoid distractions. Here, the background is a fountain, and the young girl was walking past, eyeing the photographer with a suspicious look. Fortunately the shutter was released just before the shadow of a pole obscured her face, adding a little more interest to the image. We found that children in Oaxaca made excellent subjects.
allindaphoto > Café La Antiqua, a great place for coffee and breakfast or lunch. The strong colors of the pot and cactus against the darker background contrast appealingly with the textured sunlit walls curving around the interior of the window.
allindaphoto > Wilson's Warbler, Female, drinking at a fountain at las Mariposas Hotel, Oaxaca City. Migrant from the USA.
allindaphoto > Western Tanager in the thorn forest near Teotitlan del Valle, Oaxaca, Mexico
allindaphoto > Vermilion Flycatcher, Paseo Juarez el Llano, a park in Oaxaca City. Extremely common, and also found in the US southwest.
